Box to rival Google with its ‘Notes’

September 16, 2013 |

Box today unveiled a new feature called ‘Box Notes’, which will rivals the services provided by Google Docs, Quip and Evernote, allowing the users to note down ideas and thoughts directly from within the storage platform’s framework.

Dubbed as an informal way to collaborate Box Notes is yet another product that intends to move users away from traditional software like Microsoft office and towards cloud based applications. ‘Notes’ is claimed to be a “super simple application,” that would allow for multiple users to work simultaneously. Box has ensured that security is at its best and users will be able to view at all times who all have access to the document at all times.

Unfortunately, the feature is not going to be available publicly as the official release is slated for a 2014 launch. Currently Notes is available in limited private beta mode for a selected few.

The entire concept of Box revolves around helping users to store their files in the cloud in a safe and secure manner eliminating the need of a hard drive. With tough competitors in the crowded cloud storage genre like Dropbox and Hightail, it won’t be easy for Box to stand alone trying to grab more and more market share for them.

Box is diving deeper into cloud storage services by providing innovation that helps its customers do more with the files stored on its servers.
