Bharti Airtel collaborates with IRCTC for railway bookings
Bharti Airtel has collaborated with the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to offer railway bookings in the Northern region of India including Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana through the use of airtel Money.
Sarang Kanade, Airtel CEO for Upper North Region, in a press release on Tuesday said that Airtel’s integration with IRCTC to offer reserved ticketing is a step which has been taken to empower the company’s customers with the ability to book railway tickets easily without having a bank account or an internet connection.
IRCTC mobile railway booking service through airtel Money will work across all mobile networks and no data or SMS charges will be involved. A USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) technology will be used to guide users with interactive and simple menu options for booking tickets, said Kanade.
Not only by using this service customers can book tickets but they can also easily search for trains, availability, stations, PNR enquiry, and cancellation etc, added Kanade.
