IRCTC now offers railway bookings using Airtel money
IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation) has joined hands with Bharti Airtel subsidiary Airtel M Commerce Services Limited (AMSL) to offer railway bookings through Airtel money.
Airtel mobile phone users can register to the service using the register option by dialing *400# on their mobile phones. After the initial registration users can book railway tickets via Airtel money. Vikas Singh, CEO, Bharti Airtel – Kerala and Tamil Nadu revealed that commuting through train is one of the most common ways for lot of Airtel customers.
Singh added that integration with IRCTC for ticket reservations is a step towards empowerment of its customers specifically beyond the urban footprint that would allow users to book ticket even without the need of owning a bank account or an internet connection.
Airtel added that mobile booking on IRCTC mobile using Airtel money is a “simple, convenient, quicker and secure alternative to the conventional methods.” The service is not just limited to ticket bookings an can be used to search for stations and trains as well as check for availability, PNR status and even cancellations.
Users wishing to avail this service should be registered with IRCTC and their IRCTC profile should be updated with their Airtel money number. The booking service, as per railway reservation rules, won’t be available between 8 am – 12 noon and 11.30 pm – 12.30 am.
