Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablets, Kindle eBook readers landing in India June 27
Tablet wars in India to intensify as Amazon joins Apple, Samsung, local vendors in the race to sell the most number to tablets to Indian consumers.
Amazon is going to launch its Kindle Fire range of tablets in India to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung indicating that India is slowly becoming the next big country for tablet vendors.
One of the world’s biggest ecommerce company, Amazon, has been successfully selling its Kindle Fire range of tablet devices in US, UK and other countries for a while now. With entry into India, the company will not only be able to sell its hardware, it will also be able to sell movies, apps and books through its online services.
Through a press release Amazon said that it will also be selling its Kindle as well as the Kindle Paperwhite eBook readers the same day alongside Kindle Fire HDs through Amazon.in.
Kindle Fire HD will be priced at ₹ 15,999 whereas its bigger sibling – the 8.9” variant will be on sale for ₹ 21,999. The Kindle eBook reader will be selling for ₹ 5,999 whereas the Kindle Paperwhite will be on sale for ₹ 10,999 with the 3G version going for ₹ 13,999. You can find the pricing details here.
Amazon already has presence in the India ecommerce market through its alliance with Junglee.com but, it launched amazon.in just last week and has started offering books and movies. Consumers who buy the Kindle range of products will be benefited through Amazon’s presence as they will be able to access the eBooks and movies through their tablet. Beyond these they will also have access to Amazon App Store’s which has over 1.9 million apps.
